Color
Lithograph
For
a color lithograph a seperate plate must be
used for each color. In this particular print
I used for different plates for the four different
colors and then applied a chin chole starfish,
which is a traditional Japanese print making
process where rice paste is applied to the back
of pieces of paper, placed on the plate, and
then sent through the press where the paper
is glued to the print and ink printed on it
at the same time.

Lithograph
A
lithograph is a printing process where an image
is draw on a limestone and then through a series
of solvents and acids etched into the stone.
Ink is applied to the stone and then sent through
a press where the ink is then transfered onto
paper.

Engraving
An
engraving is created by carving the image into
a copper plate. Ink is then applied to the plate
and wiped off. The ink settles into the groves
where the copper was removed and when sent through
a press transfered onto paper.

Intaglio
An
intaglio print is created by covering a metal
plate with a waxy substance and sketching the
image into the wax. The plate is then placed
in an acid bath. Where the wax have been removed
the acid eats the image into the plate. The
plate is then inked and send through a press
transfering the image onto paper.

Embossing
An
embossing is when you allow the metal plate
to sit in the acid bath for several hours, creating
large areas of metal missing where it wasn't
protected by the ground. This is called open
bite. Then you sent it through the press under
very high pressure without any ink.
