Explosion

11 X 14 inches

Oil on masonite

The turtle series was created with the idea that sea turtles live in the magma under the Earth's core and they emerge into the ocean through underwater volcanoes

Swimming in magma

11 X 14 inches

Oil on masonite

These sea turtles are swimming through the magma to reach the volcanic porthole into the ocean.

Migration

8 x 10 inches

Oil on canvas

Once in the water the turles swim towards an illuminated part of the ocean.

Circle of Turtles

11 x 14 inches

Oil on canvas

The turtles find a sphere of light deep within the ocean and circle it ceremoniously.

Turtle Dance

24 x 36 inches

Oil on linen

This painting was inspired by a vacation to Hawaii where I went snorkeling and saw sea turtles. I tried to capture the translucent qualities of the water. This is a diptic. In the first panel is the mother turtle and in the second panel are the baby turtles following her.

Mitosis

54 x 72 inches

Oil on canvas

This painting is about rebirth and renewal. The main Earth is dead and bleeding but two new Earths are growing out of the blood of the dead one. One the side of the rebirth is the ghosts of the animals who died in the destruction of the original Earth.

Koala

Life Saver Jungle

Albino Peacock

5 x 5 feet

Oil on canvas

This was one of my original dreamscapes painted in 1997, surprisingly before the bridge series.

The Albino Peacock was painted right after Life Saver Jungle and without intention turned out to be a perfect diptic.

Starlight

40 x 47 inches

Oil on canvas

Oil and mixed media on cavas.

The Sad Little Turtles is a commentary on human's impact on the environment. All items attached to the bottom of the canvas were found on the street.

Sad Little Turtles

22" x 28"

Hatching came from an idea I had about the Earth being alive and ripe, just waiting for something to burst out of it. This painting also continues the theory that turtles live in the magma of the Earth, but instead of emerging through underwater volcanoes into the ocean, the Giant turtle breaks through the crust and swims out into space.

Hatching

8" x 10"
