Philosophy
Students will create awareness in of perspective and its function in creating
the illusion of space. Students will develop skills in translating three-dimensional
objects in a two dimensional space. It will foster critical things and
improve observation. Students will also discuss how they perceive themselves
and others as well as stereotypes and how that affects our perception
of others
Goals
For students to understand what a horizon line and vanishing point are
and why they are necessary to create the illusion of depth.
Vocabulary: horizon line, vanishing point, overlaps, perspective,
planar, plane, three-dimensional, two-dimensional, volume
· Vocabulary
· Overlapping Shapes
· Draw boxes to illustrate 1 pt. Perspective
· Mario Torero- We are not minority
· I am not a Label
· Name in Lights
· Betye Saar- Aunt Jemima
· Stereotypes in Advertising

Objectives
Perceptions: The students will be aware that the horizon line is
where the vanishing pints are and that tall lines continue back to the
vanishing point in order to create the illusion of three-dimensional space
on a two-dimensional picture plane.
Arts Heritage: Students will understand how art moved from flat
two dimensional plane into an illusion of space create on a two dimensional
plane during the Renaissance in Italy
Aesthetic Valuing: Students will understand the illusion of depth
and how this represents life better than flat rendering.
Creative Expression: Students will use the ruler and think about
vanishing points and where they lie and to draw consistent straight lines.
