Philosophy
Line is used to create shapes and forms. One must understand the different
uses of line and the qualities of line to efficiently express one's self
and to convey ideas. People use line for planning, writing, and forming
compositions. Different types of lines have been found throughout history
and by studying the development and properties of line students can begin
to express themselves two-dimensionally using the artist's main tool:
line.
Goals
Students will understand the power of lines and their use in writing and
drawing. They will create their own lines of different properties and
expressions.

Perceptions: The students will be aware that there are different
type of lines, lines have expressive qualities, and can create value as
well as convey messages.
Arts Heritage: Students will look at the work of cave painters,
PESTS, Hakuin, Kandinsky, and Keith Haring.
Aesthetic Valuing: Students will understand how different types
of lines have different uses.
Creative Expression: Students will use lines to express what they
hear in music, sounds of a rain forest, and a thunderstorm.
